A little story about us…

For the girl who made my world more beautiful…

Our Story

Kanna & Ammu

A collection of moments, memories, laughter, and a love story that means everything to me.

Chapter One

The Silly Side of Us

Not every love story needs a grand opening scene. Some of ours started with silly filters, floating bubbles, and neither of us caring how ridiculous we looked. That was the moment I realized I didn't have to try to be impressive around you — I could just be myself, whiskers and all.

Somewhere between the filters and the laughing, you became the easiest person to be myself around.

Chapter Two

The Faces You Make

You never once posed properly for a camera around me. Mid-sentence, mid-tease, scrunched-up nose and all — you just kept being unapologetically, unfiltered you, under the trees on some ordinary afternoon. That's the version of you I fell for, long before I admitted it out loud.

You never performed for the camera. You just kept being you — and that's exactly what I couldn't look away from.

In a world that keeps moving too fast, you're the one place I never mind pausing at.

Chapter Three

The Little Things You Never Notice

You were already dressed and ready, and I was still kneeling there, fixing one stubborn pleat you hadn't even asked me to fix. It wasn't a big moment. It didn't need to be. I've learned that love mostly lives in the small, unnoticed gestures — the ones nobody's watching, except me, watching you.

Love, I've learned, is rarely loud. Sometimes it's just kneeling down to fix a pleat because you'd never think to ask.

Chapter Four

Evenings That Felt Like Ours

A rooftop, green fields stretching out until they met the sky, and you in white and gold with your hand resting on my chest like it belonged there. Some evenings don't need a reason to be special. They just need you standing next to me, and me trying — and failing — not to stare too long.

Some evenings don't need an occasion. You, that light, and me trying not to stare too long — that was enough.

Chapter Five

Wherever the Road Takes Us

Dressed up, roses in your lap, both of us tucked into the backseat on our way to somewhere that mattered. I don't even remember what I was thinking in that exact second — probably just that I'd happily sit in traffic for hours if it meant more of these rides with you.

Red roses, a backseat, and your smile before we'd even arrived — that's the part I remember most.

Chapter Six

A Small Cake, A Big Moment

It didn't need to be a big celebration — just a small red velvet cake on a marble table, your hand guiding mine over the knife, both of us dressed in soft white like we'd planned it, and neither of us in a hurry to be anywhere else.

It didn't need to be a big celebration. Just a small cake, your hand over mine, and one more reason to celebrate us.

Chapter Seven

Surprises You Didn't See Coming

A bouquet, a tiny cake balanced carefully on a motorcycle seat, city lights behind us — nothing about it was planned to be extravagant, just planned to make you smile that exact way you did when you realized what I'd been quietly arranging.

I'll never get tired of watching your face when you realize I planned something — even something this small.

Chapter Eight

Four Years, and Still Choosing You

Gold letters spelling out "Happy Anniversary" behind us, matching red, your hand held in both of mine on the couch. It wasn't just a banner celebrating a date — it was proof that a year in, I'd choose all of it again without a second thought.

A banner that said Happy Anniversary — but honestly, every day with you deserves one.

Chapter Nine

You, Just As You Are

Waves crashing behind you, wind pulling at your hair, a small bunch of flowers in your hands, and that smile you give when you're not thinking about the camera at all. Some days I forget to say it, so let me say it here — you don't have to try to be beautiful. You just are.

You don't have to try to be beautiful. You just are — mid-laugh, hair in the wind, flowers in your hands.

You didn't just walk into my life. You made yourself impossible to imagine it without.

Chapter Ten

The Ocean Knows Our Story

You, lifted off the ground, looking down at me the way I hope you always will. The ocean was loud that day — waves, wind, the whole sky moving — and somehow, in that one second, all of it went quiet except for us.

In that moment, with the waves behind us and your eyes on mine, the whole world went quiet except for us.

Chapter Eleven

Home Is Wherever You Are

No plans, no destination, no reason to dress up — just your head resting on my shoulder, eyes closed, completely at ease. No photo needed a filter less than this one. This, quietly, is my favorite version of us.

No plans, no destination — just you resting on my shoulder. Somehow, that's my favorite place in the world.

The People Who Love Us Too

Our story has always had more voices in it than just ours.

Family celebration with candles, flowers, and a cake at home

A celebration made warmer by the people who taught us what love looks like in the first place.

Family gathered together at a fair under bright neon lights

Nights out with the people who've quietly been part of our story from the very beginning.

The faces behind every blessing, every "take care," every bit of love we didn't have to ask for.

Final Chapter

Forever Starts Here

A heart built out of flowers and fairy lights, the ocean somewhere behind the dark, and one more cake to celebrate one more year of us. Every arch we build, every candle we light — it's really just practice, quietly getting ready for all the anniversaries still waiting for us.

Every arch we build, every candle we light — it's just practice for all the anniversaries still waiting for us.

And if I could choose one thing…

I would choose you. Again. And again. And again.

Happy Birthday

Ammu ❤️

Ammu,

Today isn't really about cakes or candles, even though we've never once said no to either. It's about you — about the way you turn rooftops, backseats, and messy saree pleats into the best parts of my life without even trying.

I don't say this enough, so let me say it properly here: thank you. For staying through the loud days and the quiet ones. For every "Kanna" you've called me that made me feel like I belonged somewhere. For every photo we've taken, and the hundred moments we didn't capture that I still remember anyway.

I hope this year hands you every bit of the happiness you keep handing me without ever asking for anything back. I hope it's softer, kinder, and even more yours than the last one was.

And wherever it takes us next — I already know exactly where I want to be. Right next to you, still quietly figuring out how I got so lucky.

Here's to you, to us, and to all the memories we haven't made yet. ❤️

With all my love, always your Kanna — Usman
